Photo Gallery & Daguerreotype Studio

Photo Exhibit is First of its Kind

In 2018, the Goodridge Freedom Center became the first spot in the world to have a re-creation of a daguerreotype photography studio in the same place as the original. The second-floor studio is a replica of one from the 1840s owned by Glenalvin Goodridge, the son of William C. Goodridge. Within the gallery and studio, you'll see daguerreotype, ambrotype, and tintype photographs as well as our collection of African American photo jewelry.
